The stones must not be packed too tightly so that air can circulate inside the stove. A stone filling that is too dense or unsuitable can impair performance, extend heating time and unnecessarily stress individual areas of the stove. Before regular use, the stove should be put into operation in a controlled manner. It is important to ensure that all components are correctly installed, the chimney draws properly and no combustible materials are too close to the stove. During operation, the stove must not be left unattended. Only suitable, dry firewood should be used. Painted, treated or damp wood is unsuitable, as it worsens combustion, can cause residues and may increase emissions.
Regular maintenance increases the service life of the stove. Ash should be removed after cooling, the stone filling should be checked at regular intervals and, if necessary, rearranged or replaced. Damaged or crumbling stones can impair air circulation and should no longer be used. The chimney and flue gas paths must also be inspected and cleaned regularly.
